Kedara Gowri Vratam is a special and auspicious vratham (fasting) dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, also known as Kedara Gowri. This vratham is observed by devotees with great devotion and faith for 21 days, starting from the Dasami (10th day) of the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of moon) in the month of Purattasi (September-October) and ending on the Diwali day. The vratham is believed to bestow various blessings and benefits to the devotees, such as a happy and prosperous married life, removal of obstacles, fulfillment of desires, and attainment of salvation.
The vratham involves fasting from morning till evening, offering prayers to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, lighting lamps with different ingredients, and tying a sacred thread with 21 knots around the wrist. The vratham also has a legend associated with it, which narrates how a poor woman attained wealth and happiness by observing this vratham with utmost sincerity and devotion. The vratham is also known as Deepavali Vratham or Kedara Gauri Vratham in some regions.
